How long have you been in the construction industry, and how did you get started?
I’ve been in the construction industry since 2006. I began my career as a carpentry apprentice in England at the age of 17, working predominantly on residential homes with a strong focus on roof framing. That hands-on experience gave me a solid foundation and a real appreciation for quality workmanship.
What do you enjoy most about working at General Building Co.?
I enjoy the variety—no two days are ever the same. Each project presents new challenges, and I take pride in how our team works together to find practical, high-quality solutions. It’s the people that make General Building Co. such a great place to work.

This is my first time experiencing the construction industry! I transitioned from senior leadership in retail – what a change!

The team culture is great! Everyone on the team, no matter the background, is always ready to help out a fellow team member and support where needed!

A great team is based off the support and guidance that they can give one another. It’s about learning and adapting as a whole! A great team is also dependent on their leaders above them, who should always lead by example and drive the culture at a high level.

How long have you been in the construction industry, and how did you get started?
I’ve been in the construction industry for 18 years, getting my start at just 15 years old. It’s safe to say construction has been a big part of my life for a long time, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
What do you enjoy most about working at General Building Co.?
The team culture, without a doubt. When you genuinely enjoy the people you work with, it makes every day better.
In your own words, what makes a great team?
When everyone gets along, shares the same goals, and brings the same work ethic to the table. The days fly by when you actually enjoy who you’re working with.

How long have you been in the construction industry, and how did you get started?
I’m brand new to construction. I’ve spent most of my career in the automotive industry and decided it was time for a change. It’s been a great challenge so far, and I’m enjoying transferring my skills into a completely new space.
What do you enjoy most about working at General Building Co.?
The people and the culture. There’s a genuine sense of teamwork and support, and everyone takes pride in doing things properly, not just quickly. The systems and training make it easy to step into your role with confidence, and there’s a real focus on quality, communication and continuous improvement. It feels good to be part of a team where your contribution is valued.

A great team is made up of people who can listen, offer different perspectives, and still be supportive of one another. It’s about respecting each other’s opinions and working through things together.

Started as an apprentice in 2007 through a family friend.

20 years. I started by working with a builder flipping houses in Tasmania.

How long have you been in the construction industry, and how did you get started?
I’ve been in the construction industry for 14 years. I got my start helping a friend with painting, which turned into a full-time role and kicked off a career built around painting and property maintenance.
What do you enjoy most about working at General Building Co.?
The atmosphere. It’s a great place to show up to every day, and that makes a real difference.

How long have you been in the construction industry, and how did you get started?
I’ve been in the construction industry for 5 years. It all started with a work experience placement with a builder – I got offered an apprenticeship on the spot and haven’t looked back since. My core expertise is in wall frames, and over the years I’ve expanded into plastering, tiling, painting, and plenty more.
What do you enjoy most about working at General Building Co.?
The team culture is awesome – it’s the kind of place that actually makes you want to come to work every day.

You’ve got to have fun and work together. Bounce ideas off each other, learn from each other, and keep it enjoyable.

How long have you been in the construction industry, and how did you get started?
I’ve been in the construction industry for just over 3 years, starting out through an apprenticeship company based on the Gold Coast. Since then I’ve been building up my skills across framing, concreting, and general house work.
What do you enjoy most about working at General Building Co.?
Working alongside the carpenters here at GBC. They’re a great bunch to work with – always good for a laugh and genuinely knowledgeable people to learn from.

How long have you been in the construction industry, and how did you get started?
I’ve been in the construction industry for 20 years, starting out on a demolition crew before landing my apprenticeship as a Carpenter/Joiner. From there I built up a broad skill set across everything from maintenance and renovations through to full house builds, roofing, and skylights, and spent 12 years running my own business on the South Coast of SA doing exactly that.
What do you enjoy most about working at General Building Co.?
The way the business is run, the variety of work, and a great crew to do it with.
In your own words, what makes a great team?
It comes down to trust and communication. Everyone knowing their role, backing each other up, and being upfront when something’s not right rather than letting it slide. The best teams I’ve been part of had people who took real pride in the work and looked out for each other on site.
